DAY 1: DEPART FOR KOTA
KINABALU
Early morning departs from Kuala Lumpur - on arrival
check in hotel - transfer to rainforest - Forest
Reserve Institute of Malaysia offers visitors the
opportunity of enjoying a walk through a Malaysian
Rainforest and of understanding the forest
ecosystem. This Forest Reserve was gazetted in 1926,
has a worldwide reputation as a center of excellence
in forestry research. Walk through shady park-like
nature trails and arboretums, among them the
Dipterocarp arboretum, the oldest in FRIM. This is a
collection center of living trees for botanical
reference. The Bambusetum displays almost 30 species
of local bamboo. Enjoy the Canopy Walk, through the
treetops across a 200-metre long suspension bridge
if it is open to visitors. -then transfer back to
hotel for Night stay.
DAY 2: NATIONAL PARK
Mt Kinabalu, standing at 4101 meters (13,455 ft)
above sea level. Is the highest mountain in South
East Asia, its foothills and surrounding area has an
incredible diversity of flora and fauna. The
Kinabalu Park covers an area of 754sq km (291 sq
miles), with an altitude range up to the summit of
Mt Kinabalu thus encompassing the five main
vegetation zones. The park has become the focus of
naturalists and nature lovers. This tour to the
Kinabalu Park leaves Kota Kinabalu via the Tuaran
highway, driving past rice fields, rubber
plantations, small towns and scattered villages.
This 2-hour ride also traverses the crocker range
with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
A photo stop and a quick visit to the Nabalu Native
Market are also scheduled. At the park, a jungle
walk into the temperate forests (altitude 5101feet)
is led by a park officer. The forest trails are
graded and the walk may last 1 1/2 hours. Lunch
(included) is served at a local restaurant. Visit
the exhibit center and mountain garden to learn more
about the natural wonders in the Kinabalu Park. Your
tour will depart from the park at 3:00pm for the 2
hours journey back to Kota Kinabalu. Then return
back to Kuala Lumpur. |
